"Sunshine Day Nursery - Setting the Standards"

EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) and Us

In the nursery we cover the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) in every age group.  This is the education that is covered from Birth until the end of reception at Primary School.

In the sunshine room aged 0-2 planning is completed on the three prime areas of learning each day, these are PSE (Personal, Social and Emotional), PD (Physical Development) and CL (Communication and Language). The other Four areas of learning - Maths, Literacy, UTW (Understanding the World) and EAD (Expressive Arts and Designs) are rotated throughout the week.

In the Raindrops Room aged 2-3 and Rainbow Room (3-5), all Seven areas of development are planned for each day.

Each child has their own key worker assigned that works in the room with them.  We use Tapestry to observe the child each day and from these observations we create next steps that again are formed from the EYFS to show where each child is at in relation to the childs development for the age.  We also look to see what each child characteristics for learning are to cater for their learning needs.

Every term we use these observations to create reports for the children again to highlight where children are developmentally.
