2-3 Year Old Room - ​Sunbeam

Our Sunbeam room is our overflow room for when we have more babies or more 2-3 year olds. This room can hold up to 8 children. If babies are in the room the ratio is 1 adult to 3 babies and if the 2-3 year olds are in the room the ratio is 1 adult to 4 children.   

​

The Sunbeam room is also the room which is made into a peaceful and relaxing bedroom for the children to have their naps in.

In the sunbeam room they have a large carpet area which has a role play area with a kitchen and dolly’s in, a large dolls house, a quiet book corner and activities set up on the carpet. There is also a hard floor area where the children have their food and use to do creative activities.

There is an enclosed toilet area for the children who are potty training and a small kitchen area. Fresh drinking water is always available for the children throughout the day.

​

We set planned activities for the children and follow the early year’s foundation stage. All activities we do with the children are through play to help them learn and develop.

​

We offer settle in sessions before your child starts, this gives you time to talk about your child’s needs and routine with your child’s key worker and the other staff in the room.

Our routine in the Sunbeam room is :

7am-9am                  -Breakfast

9am                            -Nappy time/potty training if required and play time

10am                          -Snack time

10.20-11.30              -Garden time / adult led activities / messy play

11.30am-12.00        -Circle time (singing/makaton/jolly phonics/counting and colours etc.) and nappy time/potty training if required.

12pm                          -Lunch time

12.30-1.30pm          -Nap time (if required), quite time, play time

1.30pm – 2pm          -Circle time (singing/makaton/jolly phonics/counting and colours etc.)

2pm                             -Snack time

2.20-3pm                   -Garden time/ adult led activities / messy play

3-3.30                         -Nappy time/potty training and play time

3.30pm                       -Tea time

4-7pm                         -Play time/ adult led activities/ garden time.

We work in partnership with our parents so anything you want us to continue doing with your child at nursery such as potty training or learning their shapes and colours etc. please let us know and we will be happy to help with this.
