3-5 Year Old Room - Rainbow

 

Rainbow room

​

Our rainbow room can hold up to 24, 3-5 year olds and the ratio is 1 adult to 8 children.  

 

In the rainbow room we encourage a lot more independence and for the children going to school in the next year we offer a lot of support through transition to school activities.

​

In the rainbow room the children have an area for fresh drinking water where they are encouraged to pour their own drinks. We have large carpet area with a role play area in. We do lots of circle time activities on our carpet area and there is also a book area for children to be able to spend some quiet time. We have a dressing up rack where children can independently choose their own dress up clothes and we encourage them in dressing themselves but are always there to lend them a hand.

We have a creative area with sticking, painting, drawing, cutting and water play. We also have a small sink in the room to encourage the children to independently wash their own hands before eating and after creative activities. We set up activities on the tables around the room so they cover the 7 areas of learning in the early year’s foundation stage.

 

We set planned activities for the children and follow the early year’s foundation stage. All activities we do with the children are through play to help them learn and develop.

We offer settle in sessions before your child starts, this gives you time to talk about your child’s needs and routine with your child’s key worker and the other staff in the room.

Our routine in the rainbow room is

7am-9am               -Breakfast

9am                         -Nappy time/potty training if required and play time

10am                       -Snack time

10.20-11.30           -Garden time / adult led activities / messy play

11.30am-12.00     -Circle time (singing/makaton/jolly phonics/counting and colours etc.) and nappy time/potty training if required.

12pm                       -Lunch time

12.30-1.30pm       -Nap time (if required), quite time, play time

1.30pm – 2pm       -Circle time (singing/makaton/jolly phonics/counting and colours etc.)

2pm                          -Snack time

2.20-3pm                -Garden time/ adult led activities / messy play
